Back to class and back to the gym...

Well today I started back to class after 3 weeks off.  I am taking a weekend class in Biblical Teaching for my masters degree.  Today was an easy day.  Almost everything covered today I had learned in my New Testament class...So class lasted from from 3-9 with an hour break that I took at Chick-fil-a.  Then I came home and Jessica and I went to the gym....first time in a while.  We have been working on eating better and have been walking at nights in order to get back down to our old sizes.  Third Day is a great mix to have on you ipod while working out.  Just crank up the great hits like Alien, Mad, Rockstar, and all the other rock outs!  Well I'm off to bed and then back to class tomorrow 9-4.  Then a weekend like this again in June and July and I'll be 1/4 of the way finished with my masters degree!  YEAH COME ON!!!

Marie Sue Chapman

MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN,
DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME

NASHVILLE,
TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May
21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to
Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman
home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital
in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries
there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of
their three adopted daughters.

More
than five years ago, Chapman and his wife MaryBeth founded The
Shaohannah’s Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter,
Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry’s goal is to help families
reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to
over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world.
Chapman is a five-time GRAMMY ® winner and 54-time Dove Award winning
artist who has sold over 10 million albums and garnered 44 No. 1 singles.

After losing my brother suddenly this past December, my heart goes out to the Chapman family.  I have met Steven Curtis Chapman at a meet and greet a couple years ago.  He is an amazing man of God and I know that through this he will find comfort in the Lord.  I can understand somewhat of the thoughts, tears, pain, and joy that he is going through right now as I somewhat experienced the same back in December.  Growing up listening to SCC and follwoing him through his career, I have shared many moments of worship with him.  My words are few.  I'm really at a loss.  But I will hold the Chapman family in my prayers.  I hope you do the same.

A day on the course

Yesterday I had the chance to go play golf with my brother-in-law and my senior Pastor at the Charlotte National.  It was the only course we could get in on this side of Charlotte, due to golf tournaments and course repairs.  The course was like a scene out of the Movie Tin Cup.  The fairways had patches of dirt and rocks and the sand traps were hard as rocks.  My brother-in-law Alex shot one under, but he is also a NCAA golfer at Samford University.  While I shot twenty over.  I had some great shots, but its hard to shoot decent if you don't have a short game or 2-3 putt every hole.  I had one par, and missed 7 birdie putts and 9 par putts.  So I guess I need to work on my chipping and approach shots and go to putt-putt to work on my putting skills.
But it was a great time of fellowship and being in the outdoors.

Some days are tough without a little brother

Its still so hard to believe that my little brother is gone...
If you look around my office or at home there are pictures of me and Michael all over. Most of them have been up for quite a while, while others are new.
I see him and think about how I miss hanging out, our late night conversations, our two minute conversations before class, talks about sports and hunting, playing golf, and so many other things.
I miss those times.  Its still so hard to believe he's not here and he's not a phone call away anymore.
Almost a year ago now, he was up here in our church golf tournament.  A weekend I will never forget.
And a year ago where he was my best man in my wedding, the best day of my life, and he was there by my side.
There is not a day that goes by I don't think of my little brother.  I know he is in Heaven shining bright and I can't wait to see him again.

Another week

Every since we got back from vacation...life has just flew by.
Last week was filled with returning 86 emails after being gone for two weeks out of the office.
The BRUMC Children's Spring Concert
more office work
A short visit from Chip
The annual Church Golf Tournament where Steve, Larry, Chip, and I placed 7th with a 68.  If only the wind would have been calmer!  But I did continue my Golf Tournament door prize streak by winning a Golf Bag (that I gave to my wife) since I won one 2 years ago and a Nike Golf hat
The weekend was full of ASP meetings and relaxing.
Today was a packed day of office work...emails, practice for the talent show skit with the staff, and finishing the Preschool's graduation video...
And now time to go home...
and prepare for my first weekend of summer class!

Here is a video of Michael Murphy.  A 6th grader who is our drummer for our youth praise team rockin out to a little Rush!
