Annual Conference...side trip

I am currently in Maggie Valley, where I am here with Dr. Ted, Johnny, and David for the Western North Carolina United Methodist Annual Conference at Lake Junaluska.   Tomorrow we are waking up, going to breakfast and then off to worship and then some other stuff and then Golf.  This year I'm just here for the today and tomorrow.  When Ted and I got here today, we met up with Johnny and David and got to drive around Lake Junaluska.  I forgot how cool of a place this was.  We then went for some amazing BBQ at Mountain BBQ in Waynesville.  Great Stuff!   Then we drove around looking for a waterfall (David's hobby is taking pictures of waterfalls).  We finally found it after a while and took a trail down to it.  It was amazing.  This was the first time in years that I have done something like that.  I'll have to post the pictures I took on my phone once I figure out how to do that....Then we also just drove around and took in the beauty of the mountains.  It was so cool to think about how small I was and big God was.  In college I used to take all sorts of random trips to the mountains and camp and find cool stuff like this.  I think its time that I do this more often...need to enjoy God's amazing gifts more often.
We then went to Cataloochee Ski Resort, where me and Jessica got engaged.  It was really cool to come back here.  I know that I will bring Jessica back here sometime soon.  And I forgot to mention that Ghost Town is up and running again.  So that means another road trip!
God is good!  I'm loving every moment He puts in front of me!

MTV music awards...how did we end up here?

The other night I turned on the MTV music awards like I do every year...
But this year was a wake up call to what is going on in society...We just don't care anymore...ANYTHING GOES!!!!!  Walt and I have had the conversation several times, that ever since Michael passed away, we have become more aware of the stupid things people and society do.  Life is short, yet so many people are making stupid mistakes.  MTV has gone from Music Television to a 24 ad for bi-sexuals, sleeping around, getting drunk, getting laid, getting high...and the list goes on.....
When will we get it?  Everyone wonders why crimes are so high, kids don't respect their parents, why the United States is in the state it is...Its all because we have taken God out of everything.  Hundreds of thousands of people went to Church Sunday Morning and then came home and enjoyed the MTV Movie Awards and accepted everything that was shown.  Many Laughed, many thought it was a great show, but I'm guessing few actually changed the channel or called or emailed to complain.
It's time that we start to take a stand for God.

Six months...and at times I still feel numb

Six months ago I was awaken by a phone call from my dad telling me that my brother had passed away.  Since that day...life has never been the same.  There almost isn't a day that I don't feel numb or that I don't have a small moment of tears.    I've learned a lot about other people during the past six months.  It was amazing to see the love returned that my brother had given over the years with his life with God's love.  It was great to see that some people saw how God worked through Michael's life, so people searched to see what he had.  But it has also hurt to see some people not change...basically ignore how short life can be and waste their life running from God.  But I know thats how it goes.  I've seen this past, I see it day to day in ministry.  People live for the reflection of themselves, instead of living with the reflection of Christ.
I miss my brother, but can't wait until I see him again in Heaven.

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the
world -- the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the
boasting of what he has and does -- comes not from the Father but from
the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does
the will of God lives forever.
