Wow....we have A LOT OF STUFF!

We are currently in the process of trying to sell our house.   So part of it is to clean and simplify.  On Friday, we moved our winter clothes, jackets, clothes that we never wear, and some other things to our newly acquired storage unit that is 5x10.   Amazingly it is stacked and pretty much all the way full.  And the sad thing that is maybe only 1/10 of what will have to packed up and moved whenever we sell our house.

As I look around our house, it amazes me to think that when I first moved out of my parents house to Douglas Hall in the Towers aka Honeycombs at the University of South Carolina in 1997.   We had my parents mini van with a couple things and my 1986 Honda Civic with the rest.   Since moving from Dorm room to Rental House to several apartments...and now going to be house No. 2....how much stuff I have acquired.  And now with Mallory being only 5 months old...how much that she has....

It really makes you sit back and think WOW...and I look at the world...look at people who live in one room homes or have no homes at all .   We take things for granted.  I feel very blessed with what I consider a little, but know many other people around the world would see it as a lot.

We take the same simple mindedness when it comes to our relationship with God.  Many times we do not see all the great things that we have acquired from God.  And how there are millions of people around the world that need the same things.  Just a really cool illustration that God gave me today as I sit here with a sore back from moving things two days ago...I realize that I need to move more in the world and share the great things God has given me with others!

Matthew 28:16-20
The Great Commission

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  1. It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. :)
